Pupil Premium at Lilly Hall Junior School
The Government believes that the Pupil Premium, which is additional to main school funding, is the best way to address the current underlying inequalities between children eligible for free school meals (FSM) and their wealthier peers by ensuring that funding to tackle disadvantage reaches the pupils who need it most.
As a school we receive ‘Pupil Premium’ for each child who is entitled to receive Free School Meals or who has been entitled over the last 6 years. We also receive additional funding for children who are ‘Looked After’ (in Local Authority Care) and any whose parents are in the Armed Services.
Pupil Premium was originally allocated to schools during the financial year 2011/12 and each child generated additional income for school at £488. The amount received by school during this financial year was £12,688.
For the financial year 2012/13 the Pupil Premium was allocated based on the number of children on roll in January 2012 who are known to be eligible for ‘Free School Meals’ (FSM) or have been eligible during the last 6 years as recorded on the School Census. Pupil Premium was also allocated to children designated as ‘Looked After’ or those identified as ‘Services Children’. The amount received this financial year is £619 per pupil, generating an additional income of £24,141.
As a school we ensure that the teaching and learning meet the needs of ALL pupils and we make sure that appropriate provision is made to children belonging to the most vulnerable groups. This includes ensuring that the educational needs of the children identified as Free School Meals, Service Children or Looked After are met by being accurately assessed and addressed.
There is a range of provision which the school leaders and governing body may consider to enhance learning opportunities for children. It is for the school to determine how to best use the funding however we need to publish information to parents about how all Pupil Premium funding has been used. School will ensure that the pupils who qualify for the Pupil Premium have their needs clearly identified and their progress closely monitored throughout school.
During 2012/13 our school is to use the Pupil Premium allocation to:
